This book contains more than 100 papers and brief communications on contemporary problems of chemical and radiation physics. The basis of the compendium constitute contributions presented at the International Scientific and Technical Conference “Chemical and Radiation Physics,” Moscow, Russia, August 25–29, 2009. The Conference was devoted to the centenary of Prof. Ovsei Leypunskiy, the outstanding scientist in the field of chemical and radiation physics, one of the founders of N. N. Semenov Institute of Chemical Physics of the Russian Academy of Sciences, who substantially contributed to modern industry: synthesis of diamonds, rocket engines, and nuclear engineering.

Subjects of submitted articles reflect the current state of chemical and radiation physics, as well as development of the pioneer works of O. Leypunskiy. The authors of presented papers are the international experts from scientific and industrial organizations of Russia, CIS, Europe, and USA. The main topics which are discussed in the papers are: physical and chemical kinetics, phase transformations and nonequilibrium processes, heterogeneous catalysis; combustion of condensed systems, energetic materials and interior ballistics; interaction of radiation with materials, dosimetry and protection against radiation; durability and destruction of materials, radiation problems of material engineering.

The book would be useful to promote the critical analysis of the state-of-the-art in these fields of science, technology, and economy, as to reveal the most prospective directions in great variety of modern problems of chemical and radiation physics.
